Envirofoam™
Envirofoam 100% recycled EPS foam resin engineered for use in all molding applications. Envirofoam™ is created by utilizing recycled feed stocks from post consumer EPS packaging, as well post industrial waste. Through our proprietary process, Fagerdala is able to break down post consumer and post industrial materials mechanically, re‐extrude to a new bead form and then impregnate the resin with the blowing agent (Pentane).
The end result is a newly manufactured resin with the same molding, cushion and thermal properties to that of virgin material.This is a major breakthrough in the molded EPS market due to the fact that reusing EPS in a plant has limitations when re‐grinding for blending at the machine level.
Benefits of EnviroFoam™
Envirofoam™ is currently composed of a minimum of 30% post consumer EPS with the balance being post industrial. By utilizing Envirofoam™ in new packaging products that are destined for EPS, the user is participating in the closed loop system of Recover, Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse. The recovery effort allows for the net reduction in the generation of the solid waste through collection. The recycling effort facilitates the reuse of the recovered EPS product. The reduction effort replaces virgin EPS with recycled EPS. The reuse of the resin is achieved through the manufacturing process utilizing the recovered packaging (EPS) as a primary feedstock.
